Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that he and his US counterpart Donald Trump had reached an understanding on steps to achieve a ceasefire and lasting peace in Gaza and Palestine, following their talks at the White House on Thursday.

“Our meeting was crucial in expressing the collective will to end the massacres in Gaza. During the discussion, President Trump emphasised the importance of halting the fighting and achieving lasting peace," Erdogan was quoted as saying by AlArabiya .

He added that both leaders discussed concrete measures for establishing a ceasefire across Gaza and Palestine and outlined a framework for sustained peace afterwards.
