The bye week for Florida football could not have come at a better time.
Following a dominant win over FCS opponent Long Island, the Gators (1-3) have dropped three in a row to USF, LSU and Miami, while scoring just 33 points over that span. Florida had just 141 total yards of offense in a 26-7 loss to the Hurricanes on Sept. 20.
The struggles for Florida have put head coach Billy Napier squarely back in the hot seat, the same spot he was in following a 1-2 start to the 2024 college football season. The Gators closed the season with a late run to save his job, and something similar would be needed, with six of their final eight games coming up against ranked opponents.
