EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - An Evansville woman is facing child neglect and other charges after police say her one-year-old was found in the middle of the street.
They say it happened early the morning of July 5, in the 1700 block of Stevens Avenue.
The woman who found her says her diaper was soaked and she was calling out “mommy, mommy.”
Police say the woman changed the girl and noticed she had a bad diaper rash and sore.
Officers say they couldn’t find the child’s mother, Ashley Ellis, but at her house, they found her other child, a 16-year-old, and that child’s 15-year-old friend.
An ambulance was called because it was believed the 16-year-old was having a seizure.
Officers say the 15-year-old told them around 1:30 a.m., Ellis gave them a bottle of vodka and left.
