Two officers were seriously injured in a car crash early Friday morning in Boston's South End.

Boston police say the crash involving two vehicles happened around 4:02 a.m. at East Berkeley and Washington streets.

Two officers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.

A third person in a second vehicle was also injured and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police added.

Boston EMS confirmed three people were taken to area hospitals following the crash.

Police did not immediately provide further details, including what led up to the crash, or how the officers were involved.
