CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — When the winds died down and the floodwaters receded, the real work began.

Even a year later, many families are still struggling to recover from Hurricane Helene’s devastation. But help keeps coming.

Inside a small storage unit in Cartersville, Georgia, Garett Howell keeps everything stocked and ready for the next call.

“We've got bags, we've got gauze,” he said, pointing to the shelves. “I call this the boo boo kit, it’s got Band-Aids and everything.”

The supplies tell one part of the story. What’s stored on his phone tells the rest. Hundreds of photos document the destruction Helene left behind and the people who came to help.
