The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Humberto has formed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The storm is not currently threatening land.

On Friday morning, Humberto was about 465 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands, on the eastern edge of the Caribbean.

It was moving slowly toward the northwest.

Humberto is expected to strengthen substantially over the weekend to become a major hurricane.
