CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A Canton mother pleaded guilty Thursday to killing her30-year-old daughter this past summer.

Terri Niner pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and negligent assault for the death of Avyla Mangan.

Stark County Court of Common Pleas Judge Taryn Heath sentenced Niner to three years in prison.

According to Canton police, a 911 call around 9:35 a.m. on July 10, directed officers to 2327 20th St. NE.

When officers arrived, they found Mangan in the backyard of the home being treated by Canton medics for a stab wound to her back.

She died from her injuries at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.

Canton Chief John Gabbard said the mother and daughter were arguing before the stabbing.
