A planning vision has been unveiled for an area of land in the western suburbs that is the same size as the Perth CBD but considered underdeveloped.
The Mt Claremont master plan sets out what the City of Nedlands would like to see for the eastern areas of Mt Claremont and smaller parts of Shenton Park, Karrakatta and Floreat, but has no statutory power.
It covers 480ha — about the same size as the Perth CBD — between Kings Park and Bold Park that includes a wastewater treatment plant, university/CSIRO research facilities, charitable organisations, council depots, John XXIII and Shenton colleges, State health facilities, an electrical grid transformer station and a military barracks.
