City staff are now into the designing and planning stages for a major redevelopment project in the events area of Hollinger Park after recently receiving council approval.

The enclosed south section of the historic park, currently known as Fred Salvador Athletic Field, has undergone many changes in the past decade, as it has evolved from a grassy sports and recreational area prior to 2017 and the Stars and Thunder festival, to a gravel laden events grounds today.

Over the past few years, the area has become home to significant events such as the Rock On The River music festival , carnivals, a recreational vehicle sales show, and last winter, the Snowcross event .
