The UK high street is bracing for a wave of closures next month, with some imminent in the coming days. The rate of shop closures is escalating due to economic pressures, with factors such as the earlier increase in National Insurance for employers being blamed. ‌

Major chains including Poundland, Trespass, Sports Direct and Starbucks have all announced impending shutdowns. In a fresh setback yesterday, Starbucks revealed plans to close several UK outlets following a review of its global coffee shops. ‌
