ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A driver died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after speeding away from state troopers near Truist Park in Cobb County, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
At 11:42 a.m. Thursday, a trooper pulled over a black Honda Civic for a window tint violation.
The driver sped away after the trooper walked up to the car, according to GSP.
Troopers then chased the vehicle south on Cobb Parkway. When the driver had to slow because of traffic, a trooper used the opportunity to block the car from the front.
Once the car stopped, troopers approached it and found the driver dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, GSP said.
The driver’s identity has not been released.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has responded to the scene.
