Bhadrak Rural Police arrested a man impersonating a senior police officer from Jharkhand in a dramatic late-night operation.

The accused, identified as Rahul Singh Ranawat from Dhanbad, was found staying at Room 108 of Hardik Hotel in Nalanga, posing as a police official.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the hotel and seized a Hyundai car along with 24 types of police-related items, including uniforms from Assam, Jharkhand, and Railway Police, fake stamps of senior officers, a police firearm, baton, siren light, nameplates, whistle, cap, blank cheques, passbooks, and other forged documents.

The suspect had reportedly been operating across Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam, and West Bengal, using his fake identity to gain access and influence. Preliminary investigations suggest a wider network
