Leh, Sep 26: Internet services were suspended in Leh on Friday with immediate effect, plunging the district into digital isolation. The move, which came without prior announcement, has caused widespread disruption among locals who rely heavily on mobile data and broadband for communication, education, and business.

The suspension of internet comes after the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk who has a massive following.

The area has witnessed heightened political activities in recent days, with growing demands for constitutional safeguards and intensified protests and violence over multiple issues.

“This is an extreme step. Students preparing for competitive exams and those attending online classes are the worst hit,” said a local from Leh town over phone to KNT.
