4-year-old boy falls into drain and dies in Sandur village

BALLARI: A 4-year-old boy, identified as Aravind, died after falling into an overflowing drain at Kurekuppa village in Sandur taluk on Thursday evening. The was playing outside and was heading towards his grandfathers’s house when he accidentally slipped and fell into the drain.

When Aravind did not return home till nightfall, his anxious parents launched a search and found him floating in the drain. The boy was immediately rushed to Jindal Hospital, but doctors told the parents that he had died due to drowning.

Footage from CCTV cameras captured the boy’s final moments, showing him struggling in the drainage water. The boy’s parents have alleged negligence on the part of municipal authorities, claiming that the pit was not properly covered or maintained.
