ORCHARD PARK - The other day was the seventh anniversary of the play that made the NFL stand up and pay attention to the Buffalo Bills’ new quarterback, Josh Allen.
It was Sept. 23, 2018, Allen’s third career game and second start, and the task could not have been more daunting as the Bills were at Minnesota in a game where the Las Vegas oddsmakers installed them as an overwhelming 16.5-point underdog.
But then Allen broke free on a first-quarter scramble up the middle and on the way to converting a third down, he leaped over linebacker Anthony Barr. Seemingly before he’d even hit the turf, memes filled social media, t-shirts were being created, and the foundational stone upon which the legend of Allen has been built was laid into place.
“It feels shorter ago,” Allen said with a smile
