Bhubaneswar: A former junior clerk and record keeper in the office of the Tahasildar in Pipili, Puri district, has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined for demanding and accepting a bribe for issuing a land patta.

Pratap Chandra Mishra, who retired from service, was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

The court convicted Mishra under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for his role in demanding a bribe from a complainant in exchange for issuing a Record of Rights (RoR) in a mutation case.

Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance is set to approach the competent authority to stop Mishra’s pension. Tags: DA Case Puri Vigilance
