Salesianum just landed its largest donation in school history.
The Catholic, all-boys school in the heart of Wilmington accepted a $20 million gift from one alumnus, or rather the estate of James V. Tigani Jr., who graduated from the same halls in 1954. The infusion — among the highest ever made to a Catholic high school, per Salesianum's announcement — will offer "the cornerstone" for coming renovation and overhaul of the school's Spragg Auditorium.
The money looks to fuel a new artistic epicenter for Salesianum in the "James V. Tigani Jr. Theater." The school said the new performance space, studios and classrooms will also offer opportunities for Wilmington-area art organizations, like Opera Delaware and Delaware Shakespeare.
