A 31-year-old man who worked at various Lehigh County schools as a substitute teacher was sentenced Thursday for indecent assault of a minor, authorities said.

County Judge Anna-Kristie M. Marks sentenced Jared M. Gerhard, of Macungie, to nine to 23 months in Lehigh County Jail and five years of probation, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan announced.

Gerhard also was designated a sexually violent predator and will be required to register for the rest of his life under Pennsylvania’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, known as Megan’s Law , according to Holihan’s office.

Gerhard was arrested after Pennsylvania State Police responded May 24, 2024, to a 911 call that a female victim had been indecently assaulted at a department store in the 3900 block of Hamilt
