BENNINGTON — An overheated receptacle was blamed for a fire which damaged a house Thursday afternoon, Wyoming County Emergency Services officials said.

The fire was reported 1 p.m. at a residence owned by Lauren and Shaun Murphy on 1165 Sierk Rd. Damages were limited to the kitchen area with smoke damage throughout the house.
