The Housemaid author Freida McFadden has heaped praise on the forthcoming movie adaptation, claiming it's even better than her book. The upcoming psychological thriller, which is based on McFadden's 2022 novel of the same name, stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, who becomes a housemaid for a wealthy couple and starts to uncover their dark secrets. The bestselling author has now given her seal of approval to Paul Feig's upcoming film, which also stars Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar. "I was lucky enough to get to watch a sneak preview of The Housemaid movie, and I absolutely LOVED it! The second it was over, I turned to my husband in the theater and said, 'Omg, I think it was better than the book!' (And he said, 'Yeah.')" reads her verdict on Instagram. "They captured everything that readers love about the novel! And the performances by all the actors were nothing short of incredible. It (almost) made me want to write another Housemaid book. (Almost!) The only problem is, I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait until December to get to watch it again!" McFadden, who is credited as an executive producer on the film, has written two more Housemaid books - The Housemaid's Secret and The Housemaid Is Watching - as well as a short story. The movie adaptation, also starring Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins, will be released in U.S. cinemas on 19 December and U.K. cinemas on Boxing Day.
