MADISON, Wis. — Public Health Madison and Dane County released a statement Friday morning after Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin announced it will put abortions on hold starting Wednesday.
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin confirmed to Channel3000.com Thursday morning that the abortion services are going to be on pause due to recent federal budget changes that overall affect Medicaid funding.
“Losing Planned Parenthood clinics as an option for abortion care means the full spectrum of reproductive health care will become very difficult to access in Wisconsin,” said Public Health Supervisor Sarah Hughes.
PHMDC stated there will be two independent clinics in Milwaukee offering abortion services for the entire state. State law requires these clinics to have two appointments 24 hours apart, p
