PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs has ordered state government buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Friday and Saturday.
Hobbs issued the edict for the interment of two firefighters killed in a collision while they were on duty in eastern Arizona earlier this month.
The order covers only state buildings, but individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to lower their flags as a tribute, too.
Brenna Kulikowski, 31, and Damon Thompson, 21, were among three people killed in a Sept. 14 head-on collision involving their ambulance and a car on State Route 260 southwest of Heber.
Kulikowski’s memorial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Show Low High School Auditorium. Thompson’s memorial will be held Saturday at the same time and location.
