Cllr Tim Prater, who represents Cheriton, Sandgate & Hythe East on Kent County Council , has spoken out against the authority’s recent decision to rescind its climate emergency declaration , calling the move “disreputable” and a failure to consider long-term costs.
The council’s Reform UK administration passed a motion last Friday to reverse the 2019 declaration.
The motion, put forward by Cllr Chris Hespe and Cllr Paul Chamberlain, claims that man-made climate change is not a settled science and cites conspiracy theories which allege that global bodies are using the “climate emergency” to increase state control.
