The 27th Precinct is down one of its detectives as Season 25 of “Law & Order” gets underway.

Mehcad Brooks has officially left the franchise, and his character, Detective Jalen Shaw, is no longer working with Lt. Jessica Brady ( Maura Tierney ) and Detective Vincent Riley (Reid Scott).

Deadline first reported the news of Brooks’ departure in July. While the actor does not appear in the Sept. 25 premiere, the episode reveals the character’s fate.
