WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Kelvin Burgett, the man who entered a plea to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Sedgwick County Deputy Sidnee Carter, will be sentenced in court on Friday.

Carter died on Oct. 7, 2022, when Burgett ran a stop sign at 135th and 29th Streets and crashed into her car.

Burgett was originally charged with driving under the influence, involuntary manslaughter, and driving while suspended.

In July, he pleaded no contest to just involuntary manslaughter and the two other charges were dismissed.

A judge is set to sentence him at 2:30 p.m.
