Indian cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined 30 percent of his match fee following comments he made after the Asia Cup 2025 group stage match against Pakistan on September 14. Yadav dedicated India's seven-wicket victory to the Indian Armed Forces and the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack. This led to Pakistan filing an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ICC match referee, Richie Richardson, conducted a hearing regarding the matter. Despite pleading not guilty, Yadav was advised not to make any further statements that could be seen as political during the tournament. Tensions between India and Pakistan have been heightened, particularly after India's decision to skip traditional handshakes with Pakistani players during the toss and after matches, as a sign of solidarity with the Pahalgam victims.

In a related incident, Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf was also fined 30 percent of his match fee for aggressive behavior during the Asia Cup Super 4s match against India. His teammate Sahibzada Farhan received a warning for his gunshot celebration after scoring a half-century. Both players had previously entered a plea of not guilty during their ICC hearing concerning their conduct in the match against India. The hearing took place at the Pakistan team hotel, with team manager Naveed Akram Cheema present.

As the fierce rivals prepare to meet again in the final of the regional tournament, the atmosphere remains charged with competitive spirit.
