Sources tell News 9 that Governor Kevin Stitt is preparing to move quickly to appoint a new State Superintendent, even as officials continue to describe the process as a “comprehensive search.”

The position will soon be vacant after the current Superintendent, Ryan Walters, announced on Fox News that he has accepted a new role.

Stitt has said he’s waiting on Walters’ formal resignation.
