HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- Herrin High School was placed on lockdown after a report of gunshots east of the school on Friday morning.
The Herrin CUSD 4 informed the public on September 26 at 8:31 a.m. and stated all students and staff are safe, and police were on the scene investigating the situation.
Herrin Police tells News 3 shots fired was reported near the school. Police started investigating and said they found an Ameren truck was fixing a fuse which blew nearby. Police said they investigated the incident and the case has been closed.
The Herrin CUSD 4 updated the public at 9:13 a.m., echoing the police department, stating it was due to crews working on a blown electrical transformer. The lockdown has been lifted.
