North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein held a briefing at the Tennessee border on Friday, highlighting milestones of Helene recovery and I-40 reconstruction. Stein announced that 97% of state-maintained roads that were shut down by Hurricane Helene have reopened, saying his team won't rest until western North Carolina is made whole again.
