A 32-year-old man was to appear in Sudbury bail court on Friday on several charges following an overnight standoff at a residential building on Eva Street, the Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a media release.

Officers responded on Thursday around 5:20 p.m. to a neighbour dispute between two residents, one of whom was believed to have a firearm, the GSPS said. Police arrived on scene and set up containment of the building as the individual was believed to be inside his unit. Community members in the area were asked to shelter in place, while the other residents of the building were evacuated.
