The Algonquin Barons overcame a blizzard of first half flags and a 14-0 deficit to earn their firs win of the NDA senior football season beating the Saint Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears (SJSH) 28-21 on a perfect night for football at Mike O’Shea Field.
The Bears scored their first touchdown early in the second quarter as Teodor Nadeau caught a scoring pass from SJSH quarterback Brady Kingston.
Saint-Joseph Scollard went up 14-0 taking advantage of a series of Baron penalties that allowed them to start their drive at the Alqonquin 5-year line. Kolby Vanderschee ran it right up the middle on the first play to put the Bears up 14-0.
The SJSH defence shut down Algonquin until late in the second quarter where a fumbled punt by Scollard gave the Barons great field position.
