The Calcutta High Court on Friday granted bail to former West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress MLA Partha Chatterjee in a case about alleged irregularities in the 2016 teacher recruitment process, PTI reported.
Justice Suvra Ghosh directed Chatterjee to surrender his passport, not leave the jurisdiction of the trial court, and refrain from holding any public office while the trial is pending.
Chatterjee was arrested in July 2022 by the Enforcement Directorate.
He has been accused of involvement in a scam that allegedly facilitated illegal appointments of unqualified candidates as primary school teachers, assistant teachers and to other posts in the state education department.
