BLOOMINGTON — Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz chided himself for forgetting to mention Indiana football’s special team units.

Ferentz wrapped up a lengthy response about IU’s strengths during his weekly press conference Tuesday and turned for the next question ― only to interrupt the reporter with another thought.

“I forgot about special teams, right? First touchdown was a blocked punt,” Ferentz said. “Other than that, there's no problem.”

Ferentz was referencing D’Angelo Ponds big moment in an attention-grabbing 63-10 win over Illinois. The No. 12 Hoosiers (4-0) knocked off the No. 8 Illini, setting a Big Ten record for the most points scored against a top-10 conference opponent in the process.
