The Southwestern Warriors, winners of three straight and 11 of their last 12 contests, were back at home on Thursday to take on a solid Marion County squad. Despite both defenses playing strong for the first 30 minutes or so, it was the Warriors that were eventually able to earn a convincing 4-1 victory.
The defensive midfields of both teams were dominant in the early goings of the contest, with the Lady Knights getting the first shot on goal in the fourth minute and Lilly Nelson following with the first shot attempt for the home team just a minute later. Neither team could get much going towards the opposing net through the majority of the first half.
