Legendary Minor League Baseball manager Buddy Bailey has died. He was 68 years old.
Bailey is the third all-time winningest manager in Minor League history, finishing his career with 2,417 victories.
He had most recently managed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, before retiring after the 2024 season.
“We are extremely saddened by this news. He was an unbelievable teacher of the game, a great man and an even better friend,” Pelicans Team President Ryan Moore said in a statement . “The impact that he left on this organization, the city of Myrtle Beach, and the game of baseball is immeasurable but undeniable.”
