A man was given a jail sentence Thursday for threatening a woman with a knife outside a Mason City apartment building last month and squaring off with police officers while still holding the weapon.
Damon John Torres, 57, a resident of Shalom Towers 2, 304 Third St. N.E., was holding an open folding knife while standing in front of a woman seated on a bench up against the building Aug. 28 and told her he would kill her, according to a Mason City Police Department criminal complaint.
Torres also pushed a man who was standing in front of him onto the bench, causing him to strike his head against the brick wall behind the bench, the complaint states.
