SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - In 2026, the Sioux City Garden Club will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. To celebrate, it’s putting down permanent roots in Siouxland.

There is a new living legacy on the banks of the Missouri River. The Sioux City Garden Club has started planting its trees in honor of its centennial celebration.

At the connection where the Floyd River meets the Missouri, stands a new Bur Oak Tree on the edge of Chris Larsen Park. It was planted on Friday morning.

It’s one of the 100 trees to be planted in honor of 100 years of the Sioux City Garden Club, with the help of a Missouri River Historic Development grant.

“We’re literally planting every tree. From South Sioux City to Dakota Dunes, we’ve got one going to Homer on Saturday. So they’re going in the community,” said Deb
