BOONVILLE — There is a surprise coaching change less than two months before the start of the season.

Jeremy Willis confirmed to the Courier & Press he has stepped down as the Boonville High School boys basketball coach. He went 28-43 across three seasons following three additional years as an assistant in the program. The first official practice for the 2025-26 season is scheduled for Nov. 10.

The reasoning? Willis said he was spread too thin between his business, family and basketball.

"I don't think any three of those aspects are getting enough of me," he said. "It's not fair to any of those three. I'm kind of a zombie at home by the time I get through running from here to there.
