Meta is paying out its $725 million privacy settlement. Emails are going out notifying claimants of approval, and scammers are jumping at an opportunity.

The emails from Meta say that payments will be sent out during a 10-week period, which is underway, according to the settlement website . Approved claimants will receive another email a few days before their payment is issued. Payouts will average about $30, depending on how long the individual was on Facebook between May 2007 and December 2022.
