A former youth ski coach from Duluth will spend the next 6-and-a-half years behind bars after he was found guilty of possessing child sexual abuse material.

John David Degelau, 28, was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison and 10 years of probation by a federal judge on Thursday. He was also ordered to pay restitution and more than $10,000 that will go towards child pornography victims.

Federal prosecutors say Degelau created child pornography by placing the faces of children he coached onto the bodies of other children that were victimized in child sexual abuse material.

Court documents detail Degelau possessed more than 18,000 child pornography files when he was arrested. He used Adobe Photoshop to morph some of the images, making it appear as if he was performing sex acts on children.
