The American League playoff picture is coming down to the wire.
With the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays battling atop the AL East and the Boston Red Sox clinching a wild-card berth Friday, all eyes are on the third AL wild card spot with the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Guardians and Houston Astros in contention for the playoffs.
The Yankees-Blue Jays runner-up will earn the AL's first wild card, with Boston having now clinched the second. While the Tigers and Guardians can also win the AL Central, the division's second-place finisher will have to fight off the Astros for the third wild card.
