LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The truck driver involved in the deadly crash on I-96 in November 2024 that left four people dead and 17 others injured has been charged with eight misdemeanor counts.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:42 p.m. on November 2, 2024, near M-52 in the Webberville area.

At the time, westbound I-96 had been shut down to allow a DTE Energy crew to string power lines across the expressway.

According to authorities, the highway had recently reopened when a semi-truck with a trailer plowed into several stopped vehicles that remained on the roadway.

The impact caused the semi-truck and multiple other vehicles to catch fire, resulting in four fatalities and injuries to 17 others.
