BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Two men have accepted plea deals in the 2022 shooting death of a rival gang member in central Bakersfield.

Anthony Rojas-Gutierrez on Wednesday pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder and participating in a street gang while co-defendant Andrew Espinoza pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and gang charges, Superior Court records show.

They're set for sentencing Oct. 23.

Another defendant, Ruben Sonni Martinez, pleaded no contest earlier this year to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Early on Jan. 26, 2022, police received a call about a man lying motionless on a sidewalk in the 900 block of M Street. Errol Scorza III had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
