The Minnesota Zoo's Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is back starting Friday evening.

One of the season's most unique events, the zoo puts thousands of hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns on display for a stroll-through event that is entering its seventh year.

The Minnesota Zoo has previously — and accurately — referred to it as "part pumpkin patch and part art installation."

The nightly exhibit features around 5,000 pumpkins that are regularly changed out, because, you know, pumpkins rot. Some of those feature standard jack-o'-lantern faces, while others are meticulously carved by a team of artists who work throughout the season to keep new and awe-inspiring pumpkins hitting the trail.
