ST. PAUL, Minn. — Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags at state buildings to be flown at half-staff on Sunday to honor Minnesota firefighters who have been killed or injured in the line of duty.

This gesture marks Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day, an annual observance.

“Firefighters put their lives on the line every day to keep Minnesotans safe,” Walz said. “We lower our flags to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and to recognize the families who carry their legacy forward.”

Gov. Walz encourages individuals, businesses, and organizations to also lower their flags in tribute to the fallen firefighters and their families. Download PDF
