Trial is scheduled in Oakland County Circuit Court for four men accused of murdering a Commerce Township man at his cannabis business in Pontiac, and stealing a large quantity of his marijuana.

Court records show jury selection is set to begin April 13, 2026 for the case against Scott Brown, William Creasy, Christopher Matacia and Deonte Prophett, charged with felony murder and armed robbery in connection with the Jan.13 slaying of Sam Simko, 66. Simko was shot in the head outside his cannabis grow facility in the 1000 block of University Drive, and approximately 50 pounds of marijuana was stolen, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
