Alek Manoah’s time with the Toronto Blue Jays organization has officially come to an end.
The writing was on the wall earlier this week, when the Blue Jays announced that they had DFA’d Manoah to make room on the 40-man roster for Anthony Santander. The 27-year-old had the option to become a free agent if he wasn’t picked up on the waiver wire.
Manoah won’t have to worry about making that decision now, however, as he was scooped up off waivers by the Atlanta Braves this morning.
In order to make room for Manoah, the Braves transferred infielder Ozzie Albies to the 60-day injured list. The 28-year-old suffered a season-ending hand fracture earlier in the week.
