MISSISSIPPI - 911 phone lines were down across the state due to cut fiber optics lines, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves said Thursday.
According to a post on their Facebook page, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety said they were receiving reports of 911 systems being out "across the state" on Thursday.
Governor Reeves posted about the issue to his Facebook page, saying the issue was affecting not only Mississippi, but Alabama and Louisiana as well.
"The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received reports from AT&T that the company is currently responding to a series of fiber cuts, which are impacting their network in the three states," Reeves said. "The state of Mississippi is in close contact with AT&T. AT&T crews are working to assess the damage and restore service
