GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A Greenville County school is one of only 20 schools nationwide selected to receive a grant from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to bring hands-on historical experiences to children.

DAR awarded the ‘American Revolution Legacy Grant’ to Westcliffe Elementary, which chose to use the $4,100 to bring Camp Flintlock , a traveling colonial field trip, to the school.

“History was a long time ago, and I never knew about it — and now I’m here and I’m learning about it!” said fourth grader Jayden. “I’m surprised that it’s at this school and excited because it’s about history.”

Patti Enter, a paraprofessional at Westcliffe, says nothing like this has ever come to the school.
