Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s choice to take over the chair of the budget review commission has some worried about a conflict of interest.
Borowsky has chosen founder of Mountainside Fitness Centers Tom Hatten as the new chair, but he is also the chairman of the Goldwater Institute, which is currently suing the city over whether it can legally collect money from ballot Proposition 490 money.
Commissioner Carla Carla said she will try to work with Hatten if it is proven he can legally retain the position, but she is not happy with the choice.
